Least privilege

Least privilege is the principle of granting each person the minimum access required for their role — no standing rights they do not need.

Definition

Least privilege keeps access tightly matched to need. A user who only reads statements gets a view-only role; only those who must manage the account are administrators.

Why it matters for your business

Applied to your user list, least privilege shrinks the damage any single compromised login can do. See managing user roles.
