Why we verify
Identity verification is a protection, not an obstacle. It is how we make sure that the person asking to change bank details, add a user or discuss an account is genuinely authorised to do so. Without it, anyone who learned a few public facts about your company could try to interfere with your finance. The brief check at the start of a call is what stops that.
What we will ask
We ask a small number of questions only the account holder or an authorised user would know — details tied to the account and, where appropriate, a one-time code sent to your registered contact method. Crucially, we will never ask for your full password, your full 2FA setup key, or a code that we ourselves have just texted you 'to read back'. Anyone asking for those is not us.
Confirming the caller is really us
If we call you and you have any doubt, you are entitled to hang up and call back on a number from your statement or credicorp.co.uk. A genuine Credit Corp adviser will always be happy for you to do this. A fraudster will try to keep you on the line or discourage you from checking — which is itself the giveaway. See recognising official communications.
Authorised users and third parties
If you want your accountant or a colleague to speak to us on the account's behalf, add them properly as an authorised user or nominee first — see giving your accountant access. We will only verify and deal with people who are recorded on the account, which keeps your finance in your control.
Frequently asked questions
Why won't you just discuss my account when I call?
Because we cannot yet be sure it is you. The short verification protects your account from anyone impersonating you. Once verified, we can help fully.
You called me and asked me to confirm details — is that safe?
You can always hang up and call back on a trusted number before sharing anything. A genuine adviser welcomes that. Never read back a code we've just sent you at a caller's request.
Can my accountant pass your identity checks for me?
Only if they are recorded on the account as an authorised user or nominee. Add them first, then they can be verified in their own right.
